NSPCC to benefit from Snow White

The Pantoloons, Croydon’s best-known pantomime company, is linking up with The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) this year and will donate the proceeds from its annual show for the benefit of needy youngsters in the borough.

The company, now in it’s seventeenth year, has raised almost £30,000 for charity and will stage the ever popular children’s classic Snow White at Purley United Reformed Church Hall in January.

Pantoloons president Keith Hughes said, “The welfare of children has always been at the heart of Pantoloons.  We began as a group of parents helping to stage a Pantomime for our kids at Kenley School and the company has grown from there.  This will be our fourteenth production and we have mainly supported children’s charities over the years - principally the Royal Marsden Hospital Children’s Department.  This year we have chosen to back the NSPCC because we know what a vital job they do for children here in Croydon.”

He added: “Our actors and musicians are all volunteers and our shows have always been popular with the audiences.  This year will be another spectacular extravaganza with all the thrills and spills of the traditional pantomime – and a few surprises thrown in.”

Alex McDowell, NSPCC community appeals manager for Croydon said, “With around 85% of the NSPCC’s funding coming from members of the public, the support we receive from community based fundraising activities is both very important and greatly appreciated. We would like to record our thanks to the Pantoloons and we hope they and all their guests enjoy this year’s performances.”

The money raised by Pantoloons and their customers will be used by the NSPCC at local projects such as the Croydon Therapeutic Service and National Child Protection Helpline

‘Snow White’ is on from Wednesday 25th January to Saturday 28th January with nightly performances at 8pm and a Saturday matinee at 3pm.  Tickets priced £6 for Adults and £4 for children may be obtained over the internet on www.purleypantoloons.co.uk or from the box office on 07092 376958.
